UB SRC threatens to boycott general elections

The University of Botswana Student Representative Council (SRC) has threatened to boycott the upcoming general elections because of the ban on political activities at the campus.

SRC academic affairs minister, Khumoekae Richard said politics "in UB are vital as people like Joy Phumaphi (former Health Minister) were groomed by being SRC politicians. The University Council (which issued the edict) forgets this and it will promote voter apathy.

We will boycott the elections because we will not be treated like prefects and our president reduced to a head boy," Richard said during a press conference the SRC called at the university on Monday.
