UB School of Medicine problems: Another perspective

The current topic concerning the University of Botswana (UB) School of Medicine is too serious to be ignored. Indeed the school is a national investment and a very useful and belated addition to the university programmes.

However, the arguments being advanced by the "high powered consultative meeting" - as the Weekend Post of 12-18-2013 says - betrays a dreadful fear that our communications systems are in want of a complete overhaul and our professionals too in need of re-teaching. The logic of discourse seems to me to be far below what one would expect of enlightened persons and professionals at that.

One expected a civil discourse that would be purposed at building and mending ways and processes that would yield for the nation of Botswana a good product in a national university of excellence and good repute. Instead, batho ba tikana ka noga e utlwa, ga gona yo o reetsang yo mongwe. You wonder if this is the way the scalpels will be flying around our bodies in surgeries and operating rooms run and operated by those tutored from the same professionals with dysfunctional communications systems.
