UB Media students urged to learn Chinese

University of Botswana Media Studies students have been encouraged to learn Chinese in order to broaden their career opportunities.

Public Relations student, Lucretia Chima, who is facilitating a project advocating for the incorporation of Chinese in Media Studies, said this would be in line with the country’s Vision 2016 pillar of an Educated and Competent nation.

Chima said she has observed that although the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana (CIUB) offers part-time Chinese lessons, only a few students benefit, as the classes have more working class than full-time students.  Chima said China is a world power and has a lot of opportunities that the students can explore.
