A few months ago in Parliament, the Minister of Education and Skills Development Dr Douglas Letsholathebe urged the University of Botswana to be innovative and create its revenue to wean dependence on government capital.

It now seems the minister's words did not fall on deaf ears as the university launched the University of Botswana (UB) Innovation Centre on Friday.

By launching its Innovation Centre, the UB became the first university to do so and has now set the bar for sister universities. Professor Edward Dintwa, who is the Dean of the Faculty Of Engineering and Technology at UB, revealed that the journey of establishing the UB’s Innovation Centre dates back to 2019.
