Two men fined for illegally dealing in foreign exchange

Two men were fined P2 000 each after they were arrested by Maun police at Makalamabedi veterinary gate last week over illegally dealing in foreign exchange.

The two were found in possession of P168 000 that they failed to account for.Acting station commander of Maun Police Station Assistant Superintendent Oarabile Hulela confirmed that 34-year-old Nkosi Kothi of Zimababwe and 37-year-old Gbolahim Ibriahim of Nigeria pleaded guilty and were fined P2 000 and given back their money.Hulela also told The Monitor that a person who helped them to exchange the money was fined P5 000 for operating an unregistered business.He said there was no element of theft as the accused persons proved beyond reasonable doubt that the money was obtained from the car dealers they work with.
