Turbulence at the union will not affect congress - BMWU

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) National Executive Committee (NEC) members might be skating on thin ice as they prepare for a watershed congress in Francistown next month.

The congress comes at a time when deep seated divisions have rocked the NEC and the election of a new committee will take place against a background of a morale sapping court case loss.

The industrial court upheld the dismissal of 461 Debswana workers and the NEC has indicated its intention to take up the issue with the Court of Appeal.
