Tsogwane tackles minister on disappearances

Batswana are concerned about people disappearing without explanation or trace, the Member of Parliament for Boteti, Slumber Tsogwane, has said.

"We want the minister to tell us what the causes of these disappearances are," Tsogwane said. "Is it human trafficking or ritual killings?"He was responding to a presentation in Parliament by Defence Minister Ramadeluka Seretse on the Governance, Safety and Security Chapter of the Midterm Review of the National Development Plan 10 (NDP 10) yesterday.

He added that he and his constituents were worried by the rate at which people disappear without trace. Infact, people in his constituency believe the disappearances were due to ritual killings, he added.Tsogwane asked the Defence Minister to state what he was doing to improve the situation. "We want to know if the police have been adequately trained to investigate such cases (ritual murders)," he said. "If they have not, some action should be taken because the nation is worried about this."
