The elated Makhandlela explained that the post was created after the Organisation and Methods exercise undertaken two years ago. The exercise resulted in the restructuring of the ministry and increase of deputy PS positions from two to four.
"We are going to have education regional offices alongside boundaries of those of local government. Those regions will be headed by officials at the level of directors, who I will be working closely with in delivering the best education to students around the country," he said.
