FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana People's Party (BPP) presidential elections set for either May or July at the party's annual conference look set to be a three horse race.

BPP vice president Kumbulani William, secretary general Thabani Peter and former organising secretary Tongomani Dan are the likely contenders.

The incumbent Motlatsi Molapise confirmed this week in an interview that he will step down from the presidency either in May or July when the BPP holds its elective conference. Molapise stepped up to the plate in 2010 following the ouster of then president Whyte Marobela. The BPP were supposed to hold executive elections, which are held every three years, last year at a conference held here. However, the elections were postponed to pave way for Umbrella talks.
