Transport Association hit by strike

The Gaborone Taxi and Local Bus Service Association has said that they are experiencing a decline in revenue because of the ongoing strike by civil servants.

In an interview with Mmegi, the association's Gibson Matenge said their business heavily relies on government employees who constitute a large percentage of their clientele.

Matenge who has been appointed the task of coordinator, to liaise with other public transport associations across the country, said he will look at the impact of the strike on the transport business and then draft a consolidated paper to reflect the true picture of the strike impact. He said he has so far been in touch with 13 associations and that he will be in a good position to give his report next week to leaders of the transport industry.
