Traffic law to toughen

Drivers who cause road accidents will lose their licences under tough new regulations government plans to introduce in a bid to fight the road carnage in Botswana.

The proposed Roads Traffic Bill, which is still at a ministerial level, entails points being deducted from the driver's licence for any road traffic offence committed.

Ministry of Works and Transport spokesperson Samuel Mbaiwa hinted yesterday that the proposed legislation will give drivers certain points which will be deducted on any traffic violations one commits.
