Trade officers teach customer care

MAUN: Maun business people, especially those of Asiatic origin, were over the weekend asked by authorities from the consumer protection unit in the Ministry of Trade and Industry to interact with and strengthen fair trade and business practices with consumers.

There have been escalating complaints from consumers that they are badly treated and their rights violated at the hands of a number of shop owners operating a variety of businesses in Maun.

Consumers also complained about communication barriers between them and the shop owners and shop assistants, often leading to complaints and misunderstanding, at times leading to fights, especially with the Chinese who are not very good at English.
