Nature treated the world to one of its wonders yesterday when it presented a total lunar eclipse.

The eclipse during which the moon first blackened, then turned orange to eventually become a dark red orb in the sky lasted for 100 minutes.

According to scientists it was visible to observers in Europe, Africa, southern Asia, and Australia, and was one of the darkest eclipses ever, second only to the total lunar eclipse which occurred on July 16, 2000. During the totality of the eclipse, the moon passed through the center of the earth's shadow, say the scientists.
