Tonota prays for stocktheft relief

TONOTA: The Tonota community is pinning its hopes on the successful prosecution and conviction of four people suspected of being behind a spate of livestock theft that started in the early 2000s.

Residents said they were fed up with people who have decided to reap where they have not sowed. Ellen Otlogile, 40, who lost 32 small stock andhas been keenly following the court proceedings says nowadays they are not able to possess livestock 'because some people just come and take it'.

"I do hope the police really work hard to arrest these people so that we can at long last rear our livestock without fear of them being stolen. We no longer fear wild animals but people, especially people in our own village," she said.
