Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) was the first organisation to be formed and it hence enjoys a larger following - from primary to colleges of education - despite the fact that there are teachers' organisations for those sectors.
Botswana Secondary Teachers Union (BOSETU) acquired its status early last and the Association of the Botswana Tertiary Lecturers (ABOTEL) was registered early last year and is now known as the Trainers and Allied Workers Union (TAWU).
