According to the charge sheet,  Toendepi Mazuru  (41) who lives in Sedie in Maun, Tafadzwa Monongerwa (38) of Kabakae in Gantsi and Zvesinei Monongerwa (34) of Morama in Gantsi, on June 6, at Kabakae ward in Gantsi unlawfully had in their possession copper wires which were suspected to be stolen.Inspector Othusitse  Marape, who represented the state in the matter, applied for the trio to be remanded in custody pending investigations, as all accused persons were foreigners without resident permits, to allow the prosecutors.

Marape reasoned  that they needed to complete their investigations, as it would prove difficult to locate them if they were to be given bail.In her mitigation, Monongerwa told the court that she had three children who would suffer if she was remanded in custody. In response to her mitigation, Yuyi expressed astonishment, and told the court that Monongerwa's eldest child, who is of Zimbabwean nationality, has got a Botswana birth certificate, which she used to enrol her in a local school.Yuyi at first questioned the prosecutor on where Monongerwa's youngest child who was present in court, was going to be taken and finally remanded the trio in police custody. The prosecutor mentioned that the older children would be deported to Zimbabwe and the youngest would go with the mother to Maun. The trio will appear for their next mention on June 12.
