Miyanda has recently revealed that he had been approached by three opposition parties and that their initial discussions had given him hope of a "grand coalition" of opposition parties going into next month's election.  He said the talks were ongoing. He was even more explicit about the rationale in his subsequent remarks saying the two main parties - the MMD, led by President Rupiah Banda and PF by Michael Sata - "are incapable of bringing about real change because they are one and the same party".
