FRANCISTOWN: Three local security guards and an associate have been apprehended following the discovery of copper cable cuts valued at approximately P20,000 in their possession.

Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu said they are investigating a matter involving four middle-aged men who were found with the copper cables. During a routine stop and search patrol, the four individuals were found with the copper cables. Three security guards employed by a reputable local security firm were travelling in a private vehicle when they fled upon being stopped by the police.

Another individual, who claimed to be unemployed but was driving the vehicle, was apprehended. Following the vehicle stop, the three security guards were traced to their rented residences in Letlhakane. "The on-duty cops searched the suspect's homes but came up empty-handed. The suspects later led them to some woods close to the Phase 2 location where they had hidden some of the copper lines," Maphephu said. The collective value of the copper cable cuts retrieved from the suspects amounted to around P20,000. The quartet of suspects is awaiting their court appearance, pending the forensic lab’s analysis of the cables.
