Three escapee inmates still at large, four arrested

Three of the seven inmates who escaped from Molepolole Prison a week ago are still on the run despite the efforts of a strong search team that was launched shortly after their escape.

The three are Leookeditswe Panapana Motlarane remanded for house breaking and robbery, Amos Moyo remanded for rape and Ntlholonyane Gorge Ramogokong remanded for robbery. The search team comprises of prisons intelligence unit and other security organisations. The team has so far managed to arrest four of the seven inmates since the escape was reported on January 6.

In an interview with Mmegi, Botswana Prisons Service spokesperson Senior Superintendent Wamorena Ramolefe said since the latest arrest last week in Mogoditshane Block 9, the team has not yet arrested the other escapees. "Each day that the inmates were missing in prison will be added to their sentence," said Ramolefe. He further said their officers are working around the clock to arrest the inmates, who might prove a menace to members of society. He, however, remained tightlipped with details, asserting that they would only give more information when investigations are complete.
