The rediscovery of a man in his solitude

I hereby announce the most difficult decision in my entire life thus far. Following a period of intense soul searching I have resolved to resign from the Botswana Movement for Democracy(BMD) and reconcile with the Botswana Democratic Party(BDP)

In taking this decision, I am alive to the disappointment and hurt it might visit on my erstwhile colleagues.  To them I wish to convey my sincere apology. Words are not enough to express how sorry I am. However, I feel there comes a time when a man, in his solitude, must follow his personal conscience which will allow him peace and serenity of mind.

Let me state that I, and I alone, am responsible for this decision. No one else must be called to account for my decision. In reconciling with the BDP, it might be useful to note that I had the privilege, as the youngest activist ever, to serve in the central committee of the party, when then president Sir Ketumile Masire nominated me in 1995 in my fourth year of study at the University of Botswana to sit in the highest governing structure of the organisation. I had the honour of delivering two electoral victories, in 1999 and 2004, respectively, in my capacity as executive secretary, a position which I assumed in 1997 having started off a year earlier as political officer at Tsholetsa House.
