The Okavango Delta nearly makes the New 7 Wonders

An organisation calling itself the New 7 Wonder Foundation has mounted a campaign to raise awareness of the incredible variety and beauty of nature around the world.While our own Okavango Delta and Kgalagadi Desert are vying for a spot among 21 finalists,authorities here know zilch of the campaign,reports MONKAGEDI GAOTLHOBOGWE

Two of Botswana's natural heritage icons, the Kgalagadi Desert and the Okavango Delta, this week edged closer to being included in the new list of "the New 7 Wonders of Nature", a campaign driven by the same company that came up with the New 7 Wonders of the World list in 2007.

The Kgalagadi Desert and the Okavango Delta were on Wednesday announced among the list of 261 qualified national and multinational nominees now competing in the second phase to make it to the top 77.
