In early 2008, President Festus Mogae will be handing over to his assistant, Ian Khama. He will have served for 10 glorious years. Thankfully, Botswana has experienced little difficulty in the transition of political power. The nation looks forward to good governance after Khama takes over in the New Year.

Monitor has been monitoring national political, social and educational events from the vantage point of the average citizen in 2007. Even as we might not have been able to cover every event, we have done our best to deliver on the issues that we believed should get popular attention. Below, Monitor gives an eye bird's view of events of the year.
