FRANCISTOWN: On Friday, the weatherman, Radithupa Radithupa spoke on Botswana Television of temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country.

In the second capital of Botswana, Francistown, the cloudless weather was forecast as starting at 3degrees Celsius in the morning and reaching 26 in the afternoon. People in the streets of the city are starting to revel in the new season stepping out of their homes in strapless t-shirts, jeans and sandals.

It does not look like it will be long time before we start hankering after winter again as the summer's heat wave knuckle down on us. In Botswana, the heat can start as early as before sunrise and by midday you can literally fry eggs on a tarmac-ked road, as the shrill sirens of the crickets appear to be cheering the phenomenon on. The summer of Botswana, as does other seasons, is full of legends, which are usually spoken, in hushed tones inside the round mud huts in the villages.
