Thapama Traffic Circle: A Menace To Motorists

Francistown: Traffic congestions and jams that characterise the Thapama roundabout - commonly referred to as "Thapama Circle" - continue to be a big headache to motorists and travellers alike.

This roundabout undoubtedly tests drivers' competency and the roadworthiness of their vehicles. It puts to test drivers' patience and driving skills, as they have to put up with constant starts and stops, a process that calls for maximum attention. The issue is complicated by the fact that the roundabout is situated at the confluence of at least five feeder roads.

According to 27-year-old Patricia Mangisi, driving through this roundabout is stressful particularly during peak hours "when people are going to and coming from their work places".
