A 19-year-old young man, Edwin Bonang of Kgomokasitwa village appeared before court for the murder of his grandfather, Bonang Mhutsiwa. The accused, allegedly committed the crime hardly a day after the passing of his grandmother.
The teenager appeared before Lobatse Senior Magistrate, Gofaone Morweng yesterday. The accused person, Bonang is alleged to have murdered Mhutsiwa on August 12, 2023.
In his brief court appearance yesterday, Bonang, a student at the Lobatse Brigade was further remanded in custody after the State indicated to court that the matter was still fresh and that investigations are still at an early age.
The court was also told that funeral arrangements for the deceased were underway as the grandfather and grandmother are to be buried this weekend.On other matters, the State was yet to record statements from possible witnesses being their family members.
The State also told the court that the accused should further be remanded in custody for his safety as tension was still high within the family. The case continues August 29, 2023.
