Teenage murderer escapes death sentence

FRANCISTOWN: An 18-year-old youth who robbed and killed a woman for a Nokia cellphone two years ago in Palapye escaped death sentence after he pleaded guilty to murder.

This was after the acting Judge Justice Modiri Letsididi was satisfied that there were extenuating circumstances.  He was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment.

The accused person Phemelo Patelelo was accused of killing 28-year-old Kobamelo Dambuza on June 1, 2005 at Serorome ward, Palapye.
