TEC makes NDP history

The Tertiary Education Council (TEC) has made history by seeking the input of the private sector in its contribution to the formulation of the 10th National Development Plan (NDP 10).

TEC chairperson Jacob Swartland said yesterday that it is the first time the private sector is going to make a contribution to the development plan. "This is a true sign of the Public Private Partnership that government is advocating," he said at the three- day TEC planning workshop for NDP 10 at the Botswana Bureau of Standards Conference Hall, Gaborone.

The workshop was attended by leaders of public and private tertiary institutions with government sponsored students. Swartland said that the leaders would have to develop a sector wide plan to guide the improvement and advancement of tertiary education opportunities in Botswana during the NDP 10 period 2009-2015. He stated that the sector wide plan would be consistent with government's broader strategies for the nation's economic and social development and a key driver of Vision 2016.
