Teachers urged to promote wildlife conservation

Teachers have been urged to take school educational trips on promoting wildlife conservation seriously as students need to be aware of the importance of caring for the environment.

Speaking at the Environmental Education stakeholders workshop yesterday at Maharaja Conference Centre, Edwin Mogorosi of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) warned teachers against focusing on leisure activities during educational trips that are meant to be a learning platform for students.

Mogorosi cited incidences where teachers involved with environment clubs would choose to go on trips to far-away places such as Maun so that they can enjoy themselves.
