Teachers complain over interviews criteria

Teachers who responded to the advertisement for school heads have cried foul after others who had not applied for the positions were also invited for interviews.

Those called have been acting school heads for a period of at least one year.  Botswana Secondary Teachers Union (BOSETU)'s publicity secretary, Mogomotsi Motshegwe said it was as if they were saying that those who had responded were not qualified for the posts. "How do you invite someone who did not apply for the post?" he asked.

He said that the fact that those teachers have been acting as school heads in their schools should not be used as an advantage over other competent deputy school heads who could not act for their school heads as they were around. "The system is divisive and lacks principles of good governance.
