TAWU takes Limkokwing to court

Industrial Court Judge, Harold Ruhukya, has postponed the case in which the Trainers and Allied Workers Union (TAWU) is taking Limkokwing University to court for retrenching staff.

Rukukya ordered that Joao Carlos Salbany and Mpho Malema from Salbany and Torto Attorneys appearing for the applicants, and Sipho Ziga of Armstrongs Attorneys, must argue on July 27 whether non-renewal of expired contracts amounts to retrenchments.

He said in the interim, consultations on retrenchments continue and any exit packages agreed on during the consultations shall be applied to employees in the event the applicants win the case.
