MAUN: Maun West Member of Parliament (MP) Tawana Moremi has quit the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). Tawana dropped the bombshell at the Batawana Kgotla meeting held yesterday.

The outspoken legislator 'ambushed' a heated meeting addressed by Cabinet ministers Shaw Kgathi (Youth, Sport and Culture), Frank Ramsden (Infrastructure) and Vincent Seretse (Assistant Trade and Industry) to explain government's position on the ongoing civil servants' strike to make the shock announcement.

Before relaying his views after the ministers had spoken, he called specially elected councillor, Abel Molelo to the front table and handed him an envelope.  Nobody knew what the content was. It later surfaced that inside this envelope was a 150-word letter announcing Moremi's resignation from BDP.
