Tau denies tutors 'exodus' at BOCODOL

The Executive Director of Botswana College of Distance and Open Learning (BOCODOL) Dr Daniel Tau has disputed allegations that the institution is faced with an "exodus" of tutors that are leaving in large numbers.

A source who asked to remain anonymous had alleged that tutors were leaving the institution due to frustration caused by late payments and other issues. The source said over the years, her part time tutor's payment has never come on time - the 15th of every month as agreed - and that no explanation was ever given.

She also complained about the low rates of payment, including rates for marking scripts.
Teaching material used was outdated and not in the syllabus. There was no learner induction, and sometimes tutors had to teach instead of tutoring.
