Study finds strong rural-urban linkages in Botswana

The majority of urban dwellers in Botswana regard towns and cities as just places to work and consider villages as their actual homes, a research by a University of Botswana (UB) sociologist has revealed.

The study shows that 70 percent of those interviewed view villages as their real homes, 73.2 percent of these being women.

Further, Dr. Gwen Lesetedi's research shows that 20.6 percent of urban dwellers interviewed plan to retire to and be buried in their villages of origin.
