Students suspended for riots after power failure

About 200 Form Five students from Shoshong Senior Secondary School (SSSS) have been suspended after they rioted because of a power failure on Monday night.

The school headmistress, Zibo Nthobatsang, said she had reported the matter to the regional office. She slammed the media for focusing on negative news and said that she would not be asked why she had to explain her actions.

"This school improved in results last year and you did not pick on the issue and now I want well-mannered students in the school and you quickly pick on it within a day," she said. Nthobatsang said the school has been operating without water since the beginning of the term and electricity supply has been a problem. "And that is what you people should pick on," she stated.
