FRANCISTOWN: A number of Form Five students at Francistown Senior Secondary School (FSSS) allege that they were whipped and chased away by teachers on Monday because their parents failed to collect their academic reports.

On Monday, a group of students were seen idling outside the school premises with welts on their palms from the alleged lashings. The students explained that on Friday they were handed letters inviting their parents to come for consultations at the school on Monday.

The students said they were at sea as to why their parents did not turn up for the consultations. According to them, on Monday morning Heads of Departments (HODs) came to their classes during registration time and pulled some of them out for whipping because their parents did not attend the consultation meeting. They were then chased out of the classrooms and told to return with their parents.
