Students of St Alphonsa's College of Professional Studies in Gaborone are up in arms with the college management over registration and accreditation of courses it offers.

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, one of the students studying for a Diploma in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations said they became suspicious on Monday when they heard that the school has not registered some of the courses it offers including hers. When they went to Tertiary Education Council (TEC) to verify, "the TEC office called the principal who said he would refund us right away the money we paid for the course, which included tuition and examination fees. But when we returned to school, he said he wouldn't refund us because we had already attended classes for the past eight months," she said.

The student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that on Wednesday, the principal said they should put it in writing, indicating that they wanted to be refunded. "He later replied, saying he won't pay us because we had destroyed property in school. But that is not true. He is just playing dirty tactics," she charged.
