Students Advised Against Drugs

FRANCISTOWN: A bank manager has warned Mater Spei College students against alcohol consumption and use of habit-forming drugs.

Bank Gaborone branch administrator, Rebagamang Phofuetsile, told the students on Friday that some of them have made alcoholism and drug abuse fashionable. He warned the students that habit forming drugs are dangerous to their health.

"Besides drugs, excessive alcohol intake have negative psychological and physical effects. Many are in mental hospitals due to drugs while others have been jailed," he said. He warned the students to desist from bad behaviour. "Some students think that indiscipline is a sign of heroism hence they have made it their identity," he said. "I believe that some things that I have mentioned here are squarely responsible for last year's poor performance," he said.
