Strikes put patients' health in jeopardy - Doctors

FRANCISTOWN: Batswana doctors at the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) have said that patients' health have been compromised because of the civil service strike.

They said the expatriates at the hospital are overwhelmed by the amount of work because local nurses and doctors are on strike. A specialist expatriate doctor at the hospital said they are overworked as they have to make more calls than recommended.

"Normally, I work two calls in a week, but since the start of the strike, I take two calls every two days," he said. He stated that the limited manpower puts the health of patients at a risk. "Patients feel the deepest pinch," he said.
