Andrew Motsamai was responding to the recent announcement that on June 17, 2011, Minister Peter Siele amended the Second Schedule of the Trade Disputes Act [Cap 48:02] by adding Veterinary Services, teaching Services, Diamond Sorting, Cutting and Selling services and; all support services in connection therewith to the list of essential services.
Motsamai said that the timing of the amendment reeks of mala fides. "It represents a perverted use of public power by the minister. It is the clearest indication that the current standoff between Government and the public sector unions requires a political solution.
