LOBATSE: Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) members who have taken government to court over unfair dismissals, will have to wait for five months for their case to be heard.

Appearing before Justice (Dr) Key Dingake of the Lobatse High Court yesterday, the parties agreed that the matter would be argued on May 9 next year. BOFEPUSU took government to court over unfair dismissal of essential services employees who were fired after defying a court order to return to work following the April-June public sector strike.

Of late, government has been re-employing those who had been fired and the unions are protesting re-employment. Instead the unions want the government to reinstate their members. The unions have of late been looking for alternative markets for their members who are mostly from the nursing profession.
