Stocktheft appeal dismissed

FRANCISTOWN: Justice Moses Chinhengo has dismissed a stocktheft appeal for want of merit and confirmed the conviction and sentence of five years imprisonment imposed by the Tutume Customary Court two years ago.

Orapetswe Ganetsang was appealing to the High Court for the second time after the Customary Court of Appeal dismissed his cases.

The judge noted that as he understood Ganetsang when submitting his grounds of appeal, the concerned ox bore his brand and earmarks. The appellant's other contention, the judge noted, was that he was not given the opportunity to cross-examine prosecution witnesses.
