So far, no trace has been found for Alan Phemelo (21) who is believed to have fled home barefooted and on boxer shorts at night November on 23 and never returned home after the police were looking for him for a defilement case.

Disbelief enveloped the Sowa family as it is almost three months Alan fled home and his family is no closer to getting answers on what happened to him. The young man’s family is increasingly frustrated over the possibility of what could have happened to their son. Reached for an interview, Cornelius Phemelo, Alan’s elder brother said the family is frustrated and exhausted, having not slept a great deal ever since Alan went missing and they need closure over the matter. “Since November 23rd we have been searching for him to no avail. We searched Sowa and the surrounding areas up to our home village in Nata to no avail and to date his whereabouts are still a mystery,” said Cornelius.

For his part, No. 15 District Officer Commanding, Kabo Badirwang said they have tried their best to search for Alan to no avail. However, he stated that the search is still ongoing and they are treating Alan’s case as a ‘wanted person case’ because he fled home on arrival of the police.
