State seeks to secure Daisy Loo cheque

The money was paid to Daisy Loo for a highly controversial bush clearing exercise in the city by GCC but the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crimes (DCEC) grabbed the cheque before it could be cashed. The DCEC then launched a corruption case against Daisy Loo, its managing director Moemedi Dijeng and a number of current and former GCC officials. The cheque is currently in the trust account of Mack Bahuma Attorneys, while Daisy Loo is under judicial management. The state, through the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Leatile Dambe, is seeking a restraining order to bar Daisy Loo's judicial manager John Hinchcliff and Dijeng from accessing the money.
The DPP is contending that the money cannot be touched because it is an exhibit in the criminal case against former and present GCC employees accused of colluding to defraud the city council. Dambe wants the cheque to be handed over to acting GCC accountant general Suko John.
