He said that his efforts to contact Solomon, to seek clarification on the matter, were fruitless until they finally met at a shop in Gaborone when he demanded answers. Still there were none. He then resolved to seek compensation from BTU for his proposal.

Makala said that he slapped Solomon with a P200,000 invoice for compensation. But Solomon disputed the claim saying it was huge.Makala says he was shocked to learn that Solomon and some members of the BTU leadership had established a company to spearhead the scheme. However, Solomon described Makala as a liar and desperate man who is trying to blackmail them."We only knew this man through HR Solutions, the company that had an arrangement with BTU. When this arrangement came to an end he tried to look for a job from us, telling us all his social problems. We could not hire him because we had to follow procedure," Solomon explained. He said that Makala later approached him with an idea about a scheme between BTU and Standard Chartered but it was never discussed in detail since it was just an idea. He said that BTU had other ideas and it approached StanChart sometime in 2012 and all logistics regarding a loan scheme were agreed upon, hence a company called More Power came into being."Yes, we are directors in this company by virtue of our portfolios. Once we leave our positions, we automatically step down from the directorships of this company and the new leadership will take over," said Solomon. He said that Makala has vowed to destroy them targeting the upcoming elective congress in a few weeks time. "He has vowed that he is going to cause instability in the union and will approach newspapers in his mission,"said As the dispute intensified, BTU resolved to engage their lawyers Bolele Attorneys to order Makala to back off.

In a letter dated June 12, 2013, the lawyers warn Makala that on or about 2010, he misrepresented himself to Standard Chartered Bank that he was an employee of BTU and sought to engage StanChart into offering financial packages to BTU and its members."That after the passage of a not inconsiderate amount of time, you then resurfaced, claiming that you were due for payment for introducing the idea of BTU obtaining financial services from StanChart knowing full well that there was nothing novel about your proposal since other unions and organisations already had similar arrangements with financial institutions and that you were hardly the first or last person/entity to propose such arrangement and that in addition, the true profiteer of such an arrangement was StancChart in obtaining more customers, hardly BTU," the letter reads in  part. However, makala says the union leadership was trying to intimidate him, and that it was taking him for granted. ÒIn all the meetings we have held, they displayed an attitude of arrogance, and did all sorts of things to intimidate me," said Makala.
