S/Phikwe becomes political battleground tomorrow

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The mining town of Selebi-Phikwe will be turned into a political battlefield this weekend. The Executive Secretary of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), Dr Comma Serema, says his party will hold a star rally tomorrow at Thakadiawa Freedom Square in Selebi-Phikwe West.

Serema says the rally is a part of their campaign strategy since the launching of candidates has almost been completed. Henceforward, the BDP will hold star rallies in all constituencies. Speakers at the rally will include the Vice President, Lieutenant General Mompati Merafhe, the Member of Parliament for Ngami, Jacob Nkate, the MP for Selebi-Phikwe, Kavis Kario, the MP for Mmadinare, Ponatshego Kedikilwe and the Chairman of the Francistown Region, Botho Ntirang.

The day will commence with a walkabout in the morning ahead of the rally in the afternoon. However, Serema says he is not aware that the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) will be launching its candidates for Selebi-Phikwe East the same weekend and dismisses the effort as a waste of time.
