Speeding motorist crashes into moving train

A 41-year-old man narrowly escaped death with minor injuries after crashing into a train, leaving police puzzled about whether it was a suicide attempt or not.

While other cars had come to a halt, allowing the train to pass, the driver, speeding in a Toyota Corolla, was observed overtaking other vehicles and ended up hitting a moving train at Mmamashia by Oodi turn-off.

Confirming the investigation, Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae stated that the incident occurred early on Saturday at around 3am. He said that the driver didn't sustain physical injuries but was promptly taken to the clinic, where he was treated and discharged the same day.

"Since the accident occurred early in the morning when it was still dark, we do not know if he couldn’t see properly or if he was suicidal. Other drivers had stopped, allowing the train to pass, but he was seen coming from behind, overtaking other vehicles and ended up hitting a moving train. "I am pleading with motorists to exercise caution at all times when driving to avoid unnecessary accidents that could claim lives," Lokae urged.
