Special constable admits to diesel theft

FRANCISTOWN: Special Constable Paphani Elias appeared in court on Wednesday before Principal Magistrate Dumisani Basupi to face one count of stealing by servant. Elias has pleaded guilty to the charge.

The state alleges that Elias stole 200 litres of diesel in 10 containers worth P18,000 belonging to the Botswana Police Service on December 2, 2011.

Elias admitted to the facts when they were read to him.  According to the charge sheet, Elias was employed as a special constable in 2007 and his contract extended over the years until he committed the offence in 2011.
