Sowa Town celebrates 20th anniversary

FRANCISTOWN: Sowa Town celebrates its 20th anniversary on May 5, 2012.

Frederick Ramoleele, coordinator of the event, said festivities will start off with a sponsored walk at 6am. "The Minister of Local Government was supposed to grace the event but it looks like he will not manage. We have arranged with the first chief executive officer of Sowa Town, Gladys Kokorwe to officiate," he said.

He said that they invited the Botswana ambassador to Zimbabwe because she would be able to tell the town today from what it was 20 years ago. Ramoleele said a blot in the celebrations is that the local authority has not achieved much in terms of development. Sowa Town has not grown as expected, he said, adding that developments are slow.
