Somarelang Tikologo vows to revamp moribund sector

Of the 11 sectors under the Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO), one of the lowest performers has for a long time been the Agriculture and Environment sector.

The assumption by some analysts is that the NGOs under which it was placed must have been preoccupied with their own interests to execute the sector's mandate of lobbying and advocacy. However, the good news is that under the new Somarelang Tikologo (Environment watch) Secretariat, the scenario is going to change for the better.

Somarelang Tikologo's Executive Director, Keneilwe Moseki, revealed in an interview in Gaborone this week that the sector has managed to secure a grant - to the tune of P150, 000 - from some non-state actors, which it is using to train members.
