Soldiers get counselling after woman attacks

FRANCISTOWN: Scores of Botswana Defence Force (BDF) soldiers are receiving counselling following an incident last Saturday in which an enraged woman torched their barracks, leaving the soldiers traumatised.

Commander of 2nd Brigade, Brigadier Molefhi Seikano confirmed the counselling sessions, and made a public appeal for assistance to the soldiers whose belongings perished in the inferno.

However, Seikano was confident that they reacted timeously to extinguish the massive fire that gutted a 25-roomed barracks, which housed 100 soldiers at Area S Camp. The inferno left a trail of destruction in its wake, although there were no injuries or fatalities. "We responded within reasonable time when the fire was first reported. It's just that we did not manage to save the barracks from destruction because the material used in the construction of the building was highly flammable," said Seikano.
